As I was also part of the 2D department I also was assigned some characters to go through the digital process.
[Transformation]: Once I was given the sketch (which was one of the characters I designed) I studied the character to determine how it should be worked so that it would be easy for the animators to make the animation of the object. For a character to be animated it has to be worked in a way that all the elements that make it up are fit for animation and worked with different layers.

[Sustainabilty]: I put the sketch in Illustrator so that to be able to trace out the image of the octopus so that later colour and shading could be added. Since the octopus has a very simple design, it wasn't that difficult to build up the skeleton in illustrator. I used the graphic tablet as it is more feasible to work with when designing characters, rather than using the pen tool. Once the outline was done I added the basic colours that would make up the octopus.
[Articulation]: As to finish of the design of the octopus I transferred the artwork to Photoshop so as to work on the shading, that would give a complete look to the design of the octopus. The shading gives an illusion that the character is actually in 3D and it also adds more life to the character.
