When it came to the installation, as the concept we where working on was originally put together by Daphne and I, my role was quite crucial as we had to do our utmost so that to be able to portray our beliefs and principles for the exhibition concept into an installation. Apart from putting together the wording for our manifesto, Daphne and myself where in charge of installing the manifesto on site. The idea of the Oculus Rift involved all team members and after we defined all the details PJ made a mock up of how the stand involved in the PR Stunt would look like.
I think that I've executed all my roles to my capabilities so as to produce the best possible work considering the limitations we where facing. However, when it comes to improving my performance I think that I could have been more involved regarding the projection mapping project. One thing that I certainly can improve is time management so that to be able to deliver the best possible solutions on time without any hesitation.
Projection Mapping
Overall the projection mapping was a great success as the reaction from the public was a positive one. Many enjoyed the 6 minute projection that took place on the Grandmaster's Palace facade in the christmas season. From our end I think that there was lack of management as many times we found ourselves in a situation where we wouldn't know whom role is to take certain decisions. There was also lack of time management and distribution of work, with many students buried in work rather than dividing the workload between more people. However, it was a great team effort by all the class, and despite the arguments and disagreements, we succeeded in putting up a great show.
The Installation
I was quite impressed with the feedback we got for our installation as many were amazed by this cube suddenly popping out of the ceiling. Although many of them didn't know the meaning behind it, they where curious to find out what was the thinking process behind it. Scared to pass from under it many stopped and admired the installation, which is truly visually appealing for people passing by. The location of the installation is a plus for us as when going down the stairs you don't have a choice but to see this cube hanging out of the ceiling. People's comments included: "this is very strange, but very entertaining", "wow, what is that?", "where did that thing come from?", "interesting work", "cool" and other positive comments.
One thing I would improve is the placement of the manifesto as we had to limit ourselves to a tight space because of another project happening next week in which they are going to paint the walls. We had envision the text to be placed in a wider area and in a more interesting way, however because of this issue we where limited with the space. Knowing before hand would have helped us prevent this and find a more creative solution with in which we could go around the problem.
